4 Signs That You Had a Successful Interview
Succefy Admin

Landing a job interview sounds great, but it can also be stressful. You spend hours researching the company, preparing intelligent responses to the challenging questions and maintaining your composure throughout the interview. It's probably even more nerve-wracking to wonder how you truly did afterward. Fortunately, there are several hints that may point to your performance. This is how you can tell whether or not an interview went well.

If you feel a positive vibe

Yes- never dismiss what your instincts are telling you. It's not your imagination if you felt a strong, good connection. Some interactions are awkward, while others are natural and flow seamlessly.

Even during nerve-wracking interviews, the vibe in the room can give you a sense of how well you went. Have you seen how the interviewer smiles and nods? Did the interviewer veer off into a friendly talk about things you both have in common? Was everyone cheerful? An interviewer may even pay you a complement in some situations, which is always a positive thing.

If the interviewer acts as if you have already been offered the job

It's occasionally possible to deduce information from the language being used. Consider the following phrasing: “When you start, your onboarding will last three days,” as opposed to “New hires get three days of onboarding.” If the interviewer already refers to you as an employee, it's possible that they have a mental image of you doing the work.

If you get the impression that they're trying to sell you their work

When an interviewer try to sell the company as an employer to you, it usually implies they want you for the job. If you were a mediocre candidate, they wouldn't spend time explaining why it's a terrific place to work and offering specifics about their benefits and culture.

While it's a more subtle hint, if the interviewer concentrates on the bad aspects of the company/work or says something like "this isn't for everyone," it's possible they don't believe it's for you.

If they ask about your other options (offers & interview processes)

When an interviewer starts probing you about your job hunt, it usually means they are worried that you will be hired by another employer first. They may inquire in a subtle manner, such as, “How is your job hunt going?” or directly, “Are you considering any other offers?” In either case, this usually signifies that your interview went well and that they are aware that there will be some talent war.

If they have a plan for you

If you didn't excite your interviewer, they may respond, "We have a lot of other applicants to consider, we'll be in touch." This is generally, and sadly, not-so-good. However, that alone is an insufficient evidence to conclude that the meeting was a failure.

On the other hand, you may be comfortable that you're being seriously evaluated if they say things like, "You'll hear from us within three days," or "When can you come in to meet with our department head?" after your interviewer.

If they ask “When can you start?”

That's usually another way of addressing the job will be yours when you're ready. If you didn't have a legitimate shot at the role, you wouldn't be asked the question in most circumstances.
